1. FIRE ALARM - Department Of Community Affairs Division Of Fire Safety Business Permit "P" Number And Individual ID/Registration. This Is Obtained from Trenton, NJ. This "DCA" Also Registers Sprinkler Contractors, Fire Extinguisher And Suppression System Contractors.

2. FIRE ALARM - Department Of Consumer Affairs "FA" License Required For Fire Alarm, This Also Includes The Installation Of "Electronic Security Systems". This Is Through The Board Of Electrical Examiners In Newark, NJ.

3. BURGLAR ALARM - The Department Of Consumer Affairs "BA" License Is Required For The Installation Of Burglar Alarm Systems. No Exceptions, This Is Also Obtained Through The Board Of Electrical Examiners In Newark, NJ. This Also Includes "Electronic Security Systems".

NOTE:

ELECTRONIC SECURITY SYSTEM - Definition: Includes Access Control Systems, All CCTV Systems Including IP/Network Systems, Intercom And Electronic Systems To Provide Notification Of/For Authorized Entry For Security Purposes.

4. LOCKSMITH - The Department Of Consumer Affairs "LX" License Is Required For All Locksmith Companies. This Is Also Obtained Through The Board Of Electrical Examiners In Newark, NJ.

5. PHONE AND NETWORK CABLING - Any Contractor Doing This Type Of Work Needs To Have A Telecommunications Exemption License. This Is Available Through The Board Of Electrical Examiners In Newark, NJ.

6. Anyone Doing Any Public Work Needs To Be Registered With The Department Of Labor And Obtain A "Public Works Contractor Registration" This Work Includes Schools, Municipalities Any Work Which State Money Is Being Used To Pay For The Project Is Going To Need This Registration.

7. Home Improvement Contractor Registration If You Are Working On Residential Properties And Doing Anything Other Than Burglar Alarms You Should Obtain This License/Registration.

The word "Low Voltage" listed above is not specifically mentioned anywhere in any regulations that govern our work. It sure would make sense though! I am using the term to separate contractors doing our type of work versus Electrical Contractors.
